It was a foodie day and one of the stops that we had as one of our stops was Pineapple King since my friend had never been to the original location in San Francisco. This second location is at the Mission Square Plaza so parking was not an issue in this mall. Hearing about lines to order and expecting a line, we were here at 2pm on a Wednesday and there wasn't a line. We walked up to check out the menu posted at the door, which listed their top ten pineapple buns with variations for the top three and six addition varieties. With my order in mind, I walked up to the counter and placed my order. You wait for your order number to be called and you pick up at the window. BBQ pork pineapple bun - bun was a little smaller than ones I get in Chinatown, but they had a good amount of tasty bbq pork. Taro pineapple bun - an oval shaped bun with a not overly sweet taro filling. Wished it had more filling. My friend was happy that she didn't have to go to the City to get her Pineapple King buns. If you love your pineapple buns, they will have a variety that you'll like.

Oh I am a huge sucker for pineapple buns and this place is a godsend for pineapple bun lovers like me! If you're nostalgic of the old school Hong Kong pineapple buns with a slab of butter, you will relive your dreams here. They also have new age flavors and fusion of flavors to keep things interesting. Their buns are delicious, freshly made, and packaged well for your consumption on the go. They have the classics but if you're new here or looking for an experience, just order the special bundles to get a bit of everything. Every time I've been here, there are lines out the door but fortunately, they have three separate lines to accommodate orders made via mobile as well as those made on the spot with their kiosks. I would recommend ordering in advance if you're not fond of waiting in line which moves pretty quickly. They have a shared lot that seems to be always busy but if you're patient enough, you'll get a spot. Otherwise, consider parking a bit further out or in the next mall down the street and just walk. Overall, Pineapple King is a fun novelty that serves up some delicious classic snacks and baked goods. They will not disappoint with the quality of their food so just make sure you order ahead or be patient enough to not get hangry!

I had work training in Fremont during the hottest week in July and decided to stop by Pineapple King for the first time in 97° weather. No line Thursday afternoon! Customer service from the young lady I spoke with was fantastic as well! I asked what was popular and she told me about the combo boxes so I got both plus a few other items. Turns out the matcha mochi with red bean was her favorite. She graciously thanked me for my purchase after ordering. *Butter Supreme box (4 minis): Chocolate Marshmallow Butter Guava Butter Salted Egg Butter Original Butter *Deluxe Box (3 mini cream filled + 1 butter): Original Pineapple Puff Matcha Pineapple Puff Mango Pineapple Puff Original Butter Puff Singles: Matcha Mochi Pineapple Bun Spam & Egg Pineapple Bun SO. PILLOWY. SOFT!! Plus delicate crumbles of sweet goodness from the top. It blew my mind and I scarfed down the melty mini guava butter bun so fast in my car even though the AC couldn't cool down my scorching car fast enough. I was only gone for 5-10 min. I ended up eating the mini matcha cream filled bun right after. So good!! My sis really liked the chocolate marshmallow butter. I can't wait to try the pandan coconut butter bun next and get the guava butter again. The spam & egg is already premade so it wasn't hot off the skillet or anything. The original butter wasn't for me, too much butter without any sweet flavors. Line up outside to place your order at the counter. Left side is kiosk ordering and right side is with an employee.

Came here on 2 different Sundays about 30 minutes before opening and generally a long line starts forming about 15 min before opening time (12pm). The line moves relatively fast. I had seen this place and heard good things but the butter aspect sort of put me off. Tell me why after having it once I found myself wanting to go back whenever I'm near the area. I will say the cream puffs are phenomenal and the standard pineapple buns are a bit too much for my taste, the butter being overwhelming. The sleeper item here is definitely the spam and egg bun. But then again I'm a sucker for savory stuff. They did not have any pork floss buns available when we went.
